Dear reader,
This next piece was written when I was still a child. What follows it is the tool and fantasy I created to help me become an adult. Please read carefully, take breaks. Drink water. And try to pay attention.
The Golden Dragon
Physically, gold dragons are quite spectacular. Several large horns tipped with umber shoot sideways from their cheeks, and two very prominent horns point backwards along their heads. The most obvious feature is probably the tentacle whiskers that sprout from the top and bottom of the gold dragon's jaw, giving the appearance of a beard of sorts. Their wings, like those of brass and copper dragons, connect to the body all the way to the tip of the tail. From below, the overall shape resembles that of a brass dragon, but the different coloring and dramatic difference in size enable easy differentiation. When in flight, the gold dragon's wings ripple, giving the appearance of swimming rather than flying. They smell of saffron and incense.
Length: Nose to tail measurement
Wingspan: Length X 1.125
Hatchling: Small (2-4 ft length) 8 lb-60
Wing: (2.5 ft-5 ft)
A newly hatched golden dragon isn't actually gold, instead, it is a very deep dark color. The skin scales are hexagonal and smooth. The only indication that it is a gold dragon is the cropping golden antlers, golden claws and small fish like whiskers on its face. At this point, the tail is a pointed tip that licks side to side curiously. The wings feel more like daggers maneuvering through rushing water and stale air A very agile dragon that prefers to learn through than to be taught. Eyes a placid color that will eventually turn a shimmering liquid gold, this oversized baby has fully developed gills in the area that joins his skull and body. The color is bright as to warn others how dangerous he can be when he gets bigger. At this stage in life his limbs are small and his chest not very developed, his body type is much like an otter and a house cat.
Wyrmling: Medium (4-8 ft length) 60 lb-500
Wing: (5 ft- 10 ft)
A lot has happened to our baby dragon, most unexpectedly his dark skin has been replaced with glittering golden feather-like scales. These scales serve as an indication of the dragon's health. The more metallic and lustrous then the better they are. As they become patinated it is clear something is wrong. The features of this beautiful creature are starting to grow alongside with it. The antlers are pure and growing in length. His webbed feet are now being supported by longer legs to help him better hunt on land with his retractable claws. The dagger-like wings are becoming more bird-like covered in those feather scales. A young wyrmling can now achieve altitude through its own thrust generated by the greater wings. This deer sized animal is not something you want to make angry, though I wouldn't blame you for staring. His tail is no longer a point but instead has gained its definition. The tail is an extendable rutter used to steer in the air and water. Th…
