Hi all,

I’ve just booked my first EV – a Tesla Model Y Standard RWD (2024) – and I’m completely new to the EV world. Really excited, but also trying to get my head around charging, especially at home.

A few things I’d appreciate advice on:

- I have a driveway, so off-street parking isn’t an issue

- Currently on a standard tariff with British Gas

- I quite like the look of the Tesla Wall Connector, but I’ve noticed most home chargers around me are from other brands (Pod Point, Ohme, etc.) — any reason why Tesla’s isn’t as common?

- Do I need to switch my electricity provider to make home charging cost-effective? If yes, which tariffs/providers should I look into?

- My daily commute is ~40 miles — any tips on managing charging before I get a home charger installed?

- Any general tips or “things you wish you knew” as a first-time EV owner in the UK would be really helpful

Thanks in advance — looking forward to joining the EV community properly! 🚗⚡
