From what I read on the Monash website, it says that you can only request to overload if you’ve met these two criteria within the past 12 months - completed 48 credit points, and a WAM of 60 and higher.

I will admit that I have been struggling a lot with some unforeseen familial issues going on in my life, which definitely impacted my ability to study. Especially since it is my first year and my first semester, and I also had to get used to how things work here. And so, I have definitely failed one elective based on my calculation and I feel like I am going to fail one unit this semester, which is a major for my education degree.

I will try to get myself back together and lock in for the next semester, but hypothetically, if I complete 48 credit points across semester 2 - 2026, and semester 1 - 2027, and achieve that WAM, am I able to request to overload for semester 2 - 2027, or is that not possible because I failed two units in semester 1 - 2026?

Personally, I am not very keen about overloading, but I am asking due to my strict Asian parents breathing down my neck and demanding an answer, as they want me to graduate ASAP, and also because my degree is not that flexible, meaning that one derailment can cause a bit of a headache.

I would appreciate any advice and answer. Thank you.
